Obituary of Elizabeth A. Coughlin

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth A. (Newton) Coughlin, aged 97, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Loretto Skilled Nursing Facility. She joins her husband, William A. Coughlin who passed in 1998, and her son William M. Coughlin, lost to us in 2012. There has no doubt been a joyful reunion as Betty entered into the loving arms of God. She was born on April 30, 1928 to Mary (Sabaski) and Arthur Newton in Syracuse. She was employed by Smith Corona and Syracuse China for many years. Betty loved Bingo, bowling and playing cards. Survivors: her grandson, Jason Alamond, great grandsons, Johnathan and Alexander Alamond, former daughter in law, Sandra Wensel Coughlin, and several nieces and nephews. Although most of her dear friends predeceased her, she will be remembered fondly by many friends of her son Bill. Several have always been considered dear family members. Sincere thank you to the staff of the 11th and 3rd floors of Loretto Cunningham, who cared for Betty during her final years. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 14, 2015 at St. Brigid-St. Joseph Church, 318 Herkimer St., Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be private in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. A calling hour will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday Nov. 14 at St. Brigid-St. Joseph Church, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208. Bill spent his last days there, cared for by a multitude of kind, caring and loving people.
