Mrs. Coughlin may you rest in peace. I have many great memories of time spent with the Coughlin family. They were salt of the earth people that touched the lives of a good number my generation.

I am so sorry to hear this. Betty and Bill were our great neighbors at one time on Bryant Ave. They are dearly missed. Their son Bill was a good friend too. Rest in peace Betty. I know you are all at peace together in Heaven.

So sorry for your loss. I have been away for many years but remember Mr. & Mrs. Coughlin and of course Billy. Billy and I went to St Brigid's together and played on the same basketball teams. I have many wonderful memories of the school, the church, and the family. I am most saddened to see that Billy passed away several years ago as well. Its the first I have heard about it and am stunned. Although I had not seen him in many years, I always remembered him as a great ballplayer. We had many games against St Patrick' CYO teams which were always epic battles. In some ways he was a role model early on as he was easy to be with and had such a great sense of humor. I remember that he was very close to both his parents and take some comfort knowing they are all together now.
On those infrequent trips I make in returning to Syracuse, I walk the streets in reflective melancholy and will make it a point to pass their house on Cayuga Street and in silent tribute think of their memory and pray.
My deepest sympathies

Mrs. Coughlin was like a "second mother" to me as I grew-up in the West End in the 1950's and 1960's. From Kane Road, to Willis Ave to Cayuga Street, Mrs. Coughlin always made sure Billy and I stayed out of trouble and she always made sure I was well fed (her baked beans were fantastic with Hoffman franks). Her smile and her zest for life impacted all that were near her. Mrs. Coughlin extended her gracious hospitality to my wife and children when we would visit her over the years. There is a special place in heaven for Mrs. Coughlin and even though we are saddened by her death, we are happy that she is with Mr. Coughlin and Billy. Many people have influenced my life but very few had a bigger impact on me than Mrs. Coughlin.
Love,
The Brostek Family
