Obituary of Charlotte S. Van Loan

Charlotte S. Stiglitz Van Loan, of Westvale passed away Saturday, at home. Born in Utica, she was raised in Syracuse. Charlotte was a graduate of Goodyear Burlingame and received her bachelors and masters from Syracuse University. While at Syracuse she was a member of Alpha Zxi Delta, serving as the head of the Alpha Chapter and Province President. She taught in the Westhill School District for 31 years mainly at the elementary level. Charlotte was a longtime member of Robinson Memorial Church where she was a member of the Deacons for over 30 years, and was lead soprano for the church choir for over 55 years. She was a classically trained vocalist who for several years sang on a local radio show with Gordon MacRae. She was predeceased her husband Edward C. Van Loan in 1969. Survivors: son, Edward "Ted" Van Loan Jr. of Florida; daughter, Robin (John) Jones of Florida; grandchildren, Nikki Van Loan of Elbridge, Tiffany King of Maryland, Robin Van Loan of Florida, Tiffany Jones of Georgia, Christopher Jones of Connecticut; sister, Lucille Garlock of Skaneateles; nephew, Drew Silvius of Ohio. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Robinson Memorial United Presbyterian Church. Spring burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton, NY. Calling hours will be 5 to 7p.m. Tuesday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Robinson Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 126 Terry Rd., Syracuse, NY 13219.
