Joan Forth Smith, 87, of Bishop Ludden Apartments, Syracuse, passed away peacefully at St. Camillus on Saturday. Born Sept. 18, 1930 to Fred and Ruth Kenyon, Joan was a graduate of Vocational High School. Having married Richard J. Forth in 1949, they settled in Westvale raising their three children. Joan enjoyed a lengthy career as a secretary, possessing an amazing proficiency with her typing skills. Always impeccably dressed, she became well known for her signature hair bows in her later years. After Richard's untimely passing in 1983, Joan moved into her new home in Radisson. In 1997, she married Richard C. Smith who passed in 2010. Besides her 2 husbands, Joan was predeceased by a brother, Eugene, and daughter in law, Suzanne Forth. After moving to Bishop Ludden Apartments, she found friendship and comfort with her neighbors, something she was always grateful for.

Survivors: daughter, Dr. Sharon (Bill) Sevier; sons, Greg (Bonnie), Doug (Leeore), brother, Fred (Jeanie); sister, Judy Harrington, brother in laws, Bernard (Barb) Forth, Ron (Daryll) Forth; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services: 11 am Friday at Tindall Funeral Home. Burial will follow for family at Greenlawn Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 10 to 11am prior to the service at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
