To Joan's Family,
It is with great sadness that I just now learned of the passing of your mother (grandmother & great-grandmother), by virtue of the Christmas card that I mailed to her being returned to me today. Going on-line, I found her obituary.
Joan and my mom, Helen Rittel were life-long friends...which is a rare & precious thing these days. My mother, being 8 years older than Joan, was Joan's babysitter. (Their parents were good friends.) Come to think of it, Shari babysat me a few times, back in the day. Joan & my mother along with their husbands, Doris & Dick, Paul & Shirley & Bud & Pat all enjoyed their monthly "couples club" meetings in each other's homes for many years in Syracuse.
Even after Joan & Dick moved to Texas, our parents remained in touch with each other. My parents fondly remembered the vacation time they spent with Joan and Dick in Texas...visiting the "ranch" location from the "Dallas" T.V. show was just one of the highlights of their time together again. It was a trip my parents talked about for a long time afterwards!
After Dick's death, Joan moved back to New York and she & my mom picked up where they left off... going to craft & antique shows together. Then, after my father died, Joan came to live with my mother for a short time to ease her over the loss. Joan was a very giving, warm and genuine lady. (She always reminded me of Debbie Reynolds.)
I hope this condolence and my memories find their way to you so many months after Joan's death. The loss of a mother is a hard one to bear. When my mom died in 1998, Joan took it hard too. Since that time, Joan and I continued sharing Thanksgiving & Christmas cards with each other. Joan's cards stopped coming a few years ago, but as long as the ones I sent to her were never returned, I figured all was as good as it could be with the passage of time. Now, my Christmas card to Joan has been returned...now she and my mother are friends together, once more, for eternity.

The Forth and Kenyon Family,
The Kenyon family has been a part of my life since I was just a little girl. My Dad and Your Grandma and Grandpa were childhood friends.
It was always such a pleasure to all be at Clark's cottages together at Selkirk each summer.
Joan and Dick Forth were such a happy couple and they always had such great smiles.
I haven't seen Joan is a while but will never forget the pleasure it was when we met and would discussed family memories.
Prayers to all her lovely children.
Betty

To Joan's family, my heartfelt condolences.Joanie was my dear friend and colleague for many years and will be missed by all who knew her. Her broad smile, enthusiasm for life, and sincere kindness to all made her an extraordinary woman. She touched many of the young people she & I worked with showing them the spirit and love she embodied in her life ( as well as how to coordinate a wardrobe). She was classy and sassy with an unending sense of humor and will forever live in our hearts.God bless you, my friend.

To Joanie's Family,
To light a candle would only reinforce how Joanie LIT UP a room when she walked in with those sparkling blue eyes and that incredible smile.
We worked alongside each other at CNYWORKS, and how'd we laugh sometimes into tears. The stories, the jokes, our personal interpretations about this or that! And lets not forget that we were AWESOME GOLFERS! Teasing each other about being shorty's & that the HAIR BOWS matched the outfit right to the shoes & how we shared that obsession, minus the bows for me! Although we didn't see much of each other over the past few years, l often thought and asked about her, sometimes dropping a note or card in the mail.
Joanie, you were a petite bundle of love, joy, true friend & great co-worker. I will miss you, but l know you're flying high amongst the Angelic Realm with your new Golden Wings & matching Glittering Bow.
Rest peacefully my friend...a life well lived...a life well remembered & honored. Thanx for sharing her with me and sending you all healing energies as you continue on your grief journeys.
Respectfully from the heart,
Donna 'Byrd' Setrella

Sorry to hear of Joan passing. Rember her as a very classy dresser and lady. My wife and I use to see her in downtown Syracuse many years ago. I believe she was working at Flah’s . We When your mom and dad moved to Amarillo we moved to Atlanta. One of my fondest memories is Sharon wedding on the lake. Cheryl and I were there with my grandparents Chuck and Millie.
Also enjoyed seeing my grandfather enjoying his brothers .
Will always remember your folks as gracious people .
