Dear Dad,
Where do I start? I have not accepted mom's passing and now you? I truly believed in my heart and brain that we had more time together. I wish things could have been different. I wish you and mom moved to Phoenix . I begged and begged. I know they tried and wanted you in Raleigh and Alanta. After mom was gone ,I tried and tried to get you to come to my home. It just did not happen quickly enough.
It is so hard not to be sad, with both of you gone. I went to call you on Christmas and again on New Years ,then I remembered you probably don't get service up there.
I could write a book about what you have taught me. You were a man who's actions spoke louder than his words. You left us with so many good qualities, stories and quotes.
I wanted to Thank You for being such a good man and father. I have always loved you for who you are and I felt you were the same to me. You always made me feel that you were proud of me and I am so very proud of you.
I love your stories, morals, intregity honesty, strong work ethic and your humor.
I am fortunate to have a husband and children that have many of your fine traits.
Dad, I sure hope you were watching and listening during your wake and mass..It was a very beautiful tribute to such a modest man. The respect, loyality and friendship shown from the police, miltary, choraliers and friends was amazing.
I wanted to thank you for John and Mike, your devoted sons and my brothers. They have been amazing these last few years dealing with some very difficult times . As you already know, they always had your and moms best interest at heart and were always abiding by your wishes. They will continue to do so. I do not know what I would have done without their love, support and friendship. I hope I have helped them too. Linda has shown me time and time again what it is to have a loving sister.
I love and miss you and mom so much. It hurts all the time. The one thing that helps is the hope that I will see you both again. So " until we meet again" please promise me that you and mom will finally relax, enjoy each other, and do not worry about your children or their children. Celebrate your 60th anniversary and mom's birthday . Remember not a day goes by that you are not in my thoughts and actions. Please give mom a big kiss and hug from me ..
With all my love your number one daughter. Remember I'll always be your little girl....
Mary

I wasn't able to spend that much time with my grandfather because I lived so far away. The things I do remember are all positive. Rest in Peace.- John 14:27

I wish I had the chance to make more memories with you, but unfortunately the distance between Syracuse and Georgia made it a little complicated. One distinct memory I do have with you is a bunch of us going fishing up in Syracuse, and standing out there for hours. You finally caught one first...and it was SO tiny but you were so excited about it! I remember us all giggling about the size of the fish and how excited you were about it...sure enough you were the only one who caught a fish the whole day. SO jokes on us..looking back I remember how cute it was to see you so excited! Wish there could have been more times! God just wanted another precious angel..we will all miss you. Love you!

Go with God Bill. I thank you for your kindness, generosity and hospitality over the years. It seems like yesterday that you gave Mary away at our wedding. Much of her energy, spirit and humor she got from you. I loved how she could get you laughing. I remember how impressed we all were at your bowling skill when we visited. Megan and Casey have many wonderful memories of their Poppa Bill. Mary and John will always have their stories of you to help us remember. God bless you and Jane. With love and respect, your son-in-law Mike.

All memories of you were lovely and humorous. I remembered when I was little I would try to sneak into his candy stash then ask real nicely when I get caught. Or when he would sneak jelly beans into his pocket before we leave the home. Thank you for being a sweet and funny grandfather, I am thankful for my many great memories of you.
Love always-
Casey

Dad, you will be truly missed. You were such a good man and a wonderful father-in-law to me. I will always remember working in the same building with you and having lunch with you at Arthur Treacher's weekly while you enjoyed your Fish and Chips and Lemon "Luv" pie. You were a blessing to me and i was honored to call you "dad". I love you! Linda Colang Halpin
