Just found out about Sister's passing. I knew her in California while teaching at St. Anthony in Long Beach and Mission School in San Juan Capistrano. She was such a wonderful, warm, kind, caring person. I knew her for many years and am saddened by the news. RIP, Sister....

Not only was Sister one of the first nuns to drive a car, she was, with Sister Alexandra, I believe, one of the first nuns ever to be a student in the auto mechanics class taught by my father, Steven Frayda, at Central Tech. While I cannot vouch for her skill as a mechanic, she became a treasured life-long friend of all the family. Her natural warmth, humour and generous nature were always heartening. In her modest way, a remarkable woman whose lives touched many; we will remember her fondly. Our sympathy goest to all her family and many friends from every walk of life.

My fondest memory of Sister was when I went to visit her while she was living at the Mission, San Juan Capistrano in California. The year was 1987. We went for a drive through the steets of Beverly Hills to see if we could spot some moviestars. Unfortunately, we did not, but had a good time anyway.
I will miss you Sister.
Love,
Niece Donna

As a child in Cazenovia, Sr. Mary Martin was my religious ed teacher for several years and I thought of her many times over my adult years. I can still see her with her soft voice, hands pointing upward in prayer as she encouraged us to pray, learn our lessons and be good. There was always something very personal about her words as though they came right from God directly to me at this impressionable age (guessing about 7- 9 or 10 yrs old). She can now rest in peace and sing with the angels.
