Obituary of Theresa A. Lyon

Theresa A. Lyon May 30, 2011 Theresa A. Lyon, 88, of Westvale passed away at home Monday. Theresa was born in Los Angeles, CA, the City of Angels, on the Feast of the Guardian Angels. She was thought of as an angel by many. Her love and kindness will be greatly missed. As a child, her family returned to Austin, TX to be near family. Theresa attended school at St. Mary's Academy. There she met lifelong friends Virginia, Jeanne, Doris, Dolores and Sister Renee. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. While a member of the AFROTC Theresa held a pilots license and liked to fly. She worked as a meteorologist at the airport due to a shortage of workers during WW II. She was a laboratory technologist at Binghamton City Hospital and doctor's offices. Her last job was at Community General Hospital in Syracuse for 18 years. Theresa loved her work. Theresa's husband, children, grandchildren and great granddaughter were her greatest love. Theresa was a devoted member of Holy Family Church in Fairmount. Theresa was predeceased by her parents George and Anna Ferris, her brother James Ferris and sisters Lucille Farley and Thelma Adams and daughter in law Theresa. Theresa is survived by her beloved husband Charles; brother Saadi Ferris and his wife Bobbye; her sister in law Margaret Jean Higgins; her children and spouses, Carol and Randy Bradley, Charles and Martha Lyon, Sheila Lyon and Mike Banghart, John Lyon, James Lyon, Jeanne and Doug Devendorf; her grandchildren, Cara, Amy, Alyssa, Michael, Charles, Jonathan, Claire, Leah, Courtney, Daniel, Sharon, Justin, James, Neil, Ian; her great granddaughter Avery; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and daughter in law Annie. Our family appreciates the loving care of Janice Bader, Reverend Richard Prior, Rosemary Simiele, and the great work of Hospice Of Central NY. Services: Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Tindall Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary-St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnson City, NY.
