George J. Tremont January 25, 2011 George J. Tremont, 85, of Syracuse passed away Tuesday. Born in Syracuse, he was a US Army Veteran of WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart which he obtained in the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed by the Carrier Corp. for many years and later shared his love of gardening by working at the Garden Center at Wal-Mart. He was a longtime communicant of St. Brigid and St. Joseph's Church. He was predeceased by his sister, Caroline Brown, and brother, Carmen Tremont. Survivors: his beloved wife of 64 years, Jane Capels Tremont; daughter Christine Warner of Baldwinsville; son, Kevin Tremont of Hartford, CT; brother, Samuel Tremont; grandchildren, Daniel Warner, Jennifer (Jeffrey) McCard, Meghan (Nate) Getman, Matthew (Casey) Warner; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services: 11:30 a.m. Friday at Tindall Funeral Home and 12 p.m. at St. Brigid-St. Joseph Church, 318 Herkimer St. Burial with military honors will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204
