Donald G. Cole December 22, 2010 Donald G. Cole, 84, of Westvale passed away Wednesday. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Solvay High School. While in high school he was a member of the Merry Makers Dance Band, and played at local schools for proms and dances. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII, serving aboard the USS Antietam in the Pacific Theatre. He was Town Clerk for the Town of Geddes 32 years and served two years as budget officer. He was a member of Robinson Memorial Church and was a former member of the William S. Farmer Lodge #1109. After retirement he traveled to Florida for many years in the wintertime. He was an expert crewel embroiderer of beautiful flowers and scenes and his family and many friends have his pictures hanging in their homes. He loved his family of three generations. Survivors: his wife of 63 years, Joan B. (Chrisfield) Cole; daughter, Cindy Clift; sons, Richard (Cheryl) Cole and William (Cheryl) Cole; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours 2 to 5 pm Sunday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 126 Terry Road, Syracuse, NY 13219.
