Obituary of Jane C. Halpin

Jane Cloonan Halpin October 21, 2010 Jane Cloonan Halpin of Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, after a courageous and gracious battle due to complications of a stroke. Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She never met a stranger and was known as a compassionate and loving person by all who were blessed to know her. Jane received her R.N. from Syracuse General and Bachelors from Syracuse University. She taught nursing at Central Technical School where she was highly respected by her students, many of whom became lifelong friends of Jane. She was Admissions-Discharge Coordinator at Van Duyn Home & Hospital before retiring and was a communicant of St. Ann's Church. Jane was committed to God, gracious in her relationships, savvy and integrity-filled in her professional life, and righteous in her behavior. Survivors: her husband of 58 years, William, six children; Thomas (Carol) of Mentor, OH, Michael (Linda) of Roswell, GA, Robert (Patricia) of Syracuse, Mary Halpin-Trier (Michael) of Phoenix, AZ, Edward (Dawn, deceased) of Walden, and John of Raleigh, NC, 14 grandchildren; Stephen and Lauren Halpin, Michael and Sarah Halpin, Shannon, Colleen Shiel, Robert Jr., Patrick Halpin, Sean, Mariah, Brendan, and Rory Halpin, Megan and Casey Trier and one great grandchild, Colin Shiel. Jane will be truly missed and she will hold a special place in everyone's heart who knew and loved her. The family thanks the staff of the 6th floor at VanDuyn for the loving care that they gave her. Services: will be Monday, 9:30 a.m. at Tindall Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Burial to follow in Onondaga County Veteran's Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, 1921 W. Genesee St.
