Obituary of John P. Petrangelo

John P. Petrangelo, 97, of Lakeland passed away Thursday at Van Duyn. Born in Solvay, he was a graduate of Warners High School where he was a standout basketball and soccer player. Later John would continue his love of basketball as a referee and was a loyal fan of the Syracuse Nats. He worked over 40 years for Crucible Steel in the Main Office. John was an avid gardener and enjoyed travelling with his wife of over 60 years, Hermina who predeceased him in 2009. Survivors: his brother, Louis Petrangelo of Camillus; several nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Of Peace Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt. Friends may call 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service Monday at Our Lady Of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb St, Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Church.
