Obituary of John Michael McCarthy
John Michael McCarthy, 43, of Syracuse passed away peacefully Tuesday, surrounded by his family. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Corcoran High School and was a member of the 1990 Cross Country Championship team. John was currently employed with the City of Syracuse and was formerly with Deli-Boy. He enjoyed fishing, running, SU sports, the Boston Red Sox, and the Celtics. John loved being with family and attending all his nieces and nephews activities.
Survivors: his parents, John and Patricia (Tursi) McCarthy; sisters, Denise McCarthy and Delisa (Matthew) Kerwin; brothers, Jason (Tracie) McCarthy and Jeffrey (Mary) McCarthy; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services: Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. James Church, 4845 South Salina St., Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation c/o Team Tess, 200 Gateway Park Dr., Bldg C, N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
