Obituary of Mary E. Neary

Mary E. Neary, 96, of Camillus passed away Monday at Francis House. She was born October 14, 1920 in Solvay, the daughter of the late Thomas and Jane Neary. Mary graduated from Solvay High School and Syracuse General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an RN at Syracuse General for 2 years and then studied Public Health at Columbia University working for the Brooklyn VNA. Mary returned to Syracuse and worked for the health department in Solvay as a school nurse. In 1950, Mary moved to Buffalo and worked at the VA Hospital until her retirement in 1977. In 1979 she returned to live in Camillus and spent winters in Clearwater, Florida where she was a Eucharistic Minister for St. Cecilia's Church. Mary was predeceased by her brother, Rev. Thomas Neary and her lifelong friend, Dorothy Heffron. Survivors: include her brothers, Joseph of Camillus and John in Fairmount; several nieces and nephews. Services: 12:30 pm Thursday at Holy Family Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cazenovia. A calling hour will be 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY.
