Obituary of Judith Ann Smith

Judith "Judy" Ann Proctor Smith, 76, of Syracuse and Star Lake, NY passed away on April 19, 2017 at home surrounded by family and friends. Judy was born in Canastota, NY. She graduated from Canastota High School in 1957 and later from C.C.B.I. Judy worked as a Secretary at Niagara Mohawk Power Company. During that time, Judy married J. Schuyler Smith. The couple enjoyed traveling in their early years, especially to Acapulco, Mexico. Eventually, Judy stayed home once they bought their beloved home in Westvale to start a family in 1972. Judy enjoyed her family and was a stay at home mom for her girls. She spent many hours in her gardens tending to her flowers and yard. She spent her summers and autumns in Star Lake, NY, at the family cottage in the Adirondacks. Judy was an animal lover and cherished her family dogs over the years. Her love of music was always evident over the years, having a keen interest in the piano. She played it beautifully. Judy will be remembered as a doting grandmother who loved on, spoiled and encouraged the kids whenever she could. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Robert & Mary Louise Proctor. Judy is survived by her loyal husband of over 51 years, J Schuyler Smith; daughters, Sarah (Jeffrey) Mandell of Marietta, GA and Courtney (Ron) Righter of Cumming, GA.; grandchildren, Ruth, Howie, Nate and Sally; sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Proctor Brown (James) of Sun City Center, FL.; nephew, David (Jennifer) Jones of Mankato, MN and niece, Meredith (William) Rogers of Beaverton, OR and great-nieces and nephews. Services: 6 pm Saturday, April 22 at Tindall Funeral Home. Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY.
