Obituary of Richard L. Hunt
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard L. "Dick" Hunt, 88, of Camillus passed away at home on Monday, February 27, 2017. Dick grew up on the westside of Syracuse, attended Central High School and was a graduate of Syracuse University. He then served in the United States Air Force, graduating from Officers Candidate School.
He worked for many years as the Sales Manager at Marble Farms Dairy and the Purchasing Manager at Rosewood Heights (formerly Plaza) Nursing Home from its opening until his retirement at the age of 74. Dick was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church United until its closing and then joined University United Methodist Church where he continued his faithful service through neighborhood mission programs. He served on the Refugee Resettlement board of the Syracuse Area Inter-Religious Council, now InterFaith Works for many years and was an active member of the West End Churches Ecumenical group.
Dick was happiest when spending time with his family, loved the outdoors and the annual Columbus Day weekend camping trip to Nick's Lake in the Adirondacks. An avid baseball fan, Dick played ball in school, the service and recreational leagues with his brother Bob well into his 50's. He was passionate about the Cleveland Indians and had an amazing knowledge of baseball history. Dick will be remembered for his welcoming and friendly personality, and his genuine interest in everyone he met.
The family would like to thank "Linda's Girl's" for the wonderful care provided to Dick over the past year.
