Salvatore "Sam" Coniglio, 95, of Syracuse passed away Wednesday after a brief illness. Born in Oswego, NY he was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII serving in the CBI Theater. When Sam returned from the service he worked for a brief time in his brother's clothing business, Sebastian's of Endicott. Subsequently he moved back to Syracuse and began his career with Allied Chemical. Sam would retire after more than 30 years as a Lieutenant with the security department. He loved refinishing furniture, vintage airplanes, cooking, and trips to Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, seven siblings, and his first wife, Viola. Survivors: his wife, Jean (Gray) Coniglio; one son, Peter (Jamie) Coniglio of Virginia; step children, Paulette Yungwirth of Pennsylvania, Scott (Therese) Becksted of Syracuse, David (Sarah) Whiteside of Clay; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services: 9:30 am Tuesday at Tindall Funeral Home and 10:00 am at Holy Family Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial with military honors will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY.
