David "Earle" MacLeod August 5, 2010 David "Earle" MacLeod, 94, of Syracuse, died peacefully Thursday at Crouse Hospital. He was born July 7, 1916 in Lexington, Ma. of parents John W. MacLeod and Gwladys M. Platt. He graduated from Weston Ma., High School, in 1934, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with a B.S. in general Engineering in 1938 and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1939. He was an Engineer for Carrier Corp., Syracuse, from 1945 until his retirement in 1983. In December 1951, he married Margaret T. (Towne) MacLeod (deceased June 3, 2009) of Waltham, Ma. They resided in Syracuse for the rest of their lives. Earle was the father of 4 children. He was an avid reader and an excellent outdoorsman with numerous interests including golfing, fly-fishing, camping, and many other outdoor sports. He loved playing guitar and harmonica. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. The family spent many summers camping in the Adirondacks. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church, W. Genesee St. His wife, Margaret, and his son, Douglas Towne MacLeod, predeceased him. Survivors include his children, Diana MacLeod (Walter), Amy MacLeod and Glenn A. MacLeod, as well as four grandchildren- Rachel, Ian, Mary Margaret and Alexander. Funeral Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, at Tindall Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 800 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Calling hour is noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home, 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse.
