Obituary of Gladys Satanek Northup

Gladys Satanek Northup passed away peacefully at her home in Westvale on August 21, 2016. She was 103 years old. She was born in Utica, NY on December 20,1912 to George and Caroline Janusz (who immigrated from Poland). She was predeceased by her two husbands, Alexander Satanek and Nicholas Northup; her five siblings, and her step daughter, Barbara Northup. On June 11,1932 she married Alexander Satanek and moved to Syracuse. She worked for and retired from Pass and Seymour where she was a Quality Control Supervisor. She was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church and was a life member of the Van Duyn Auxiliary. She enjoyed and excelled at bowling winning many awards including a TV appearance. Roses were her specialty and the envy of the neighborhood. She also joined a golf league and a dance group. People would always comment on her beautiful smile and pretty blue eyes and you never left her house hungry. Survivors: Left to cherish her memory is her son, Dick (Lorraine) Satanek, grandchildren; Debra (Rick) Kinsley, Donna (Mark) Haley, Lynn (Michael) Ryan, and Rick (Cindy) Satanek. Her daughter, Gerri (Bob) Guyon, and grandchildren; Jeff (Betsy) Guyon, Christopher (Donna) Guyon and Marbeth (Larry) Kollath. She also has 22 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren; and her step daughter, Carol Northup. The family would like to express their appreciation to close friends and neighbors, Pat and Dave Berkery who were always there for her and Lynne Nichelson, Mary Ellen Schzemaker and Beverly Kent (her aides) for their compassion and excellent care of Mom. God has gained another angel. Unfortunately her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. We love you Mom and always will. Services: A celebration of her life and interment will be held in Syracuse at a later date.
