Obituary of Florence Kazel

Florence Kazel, 83, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Friday in Virginia. She was born in Syracuse, and graduated from Solvay High School and the Central City Business Institute. Florence retired from the SUNY, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, where she worked for more than 20 years. She enjoyed the theater, music, and the arts. Above all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Martin Kazel, her parents, Viola and Charles Gibbons, and her sisters, Helen Garcia, Beverly Gasapo, and Joyce Gibbons. Survivors: her daughter, Lisa Blackwell and her husband Shane Blackwell; their children, Victoria and Nicholas Blackwell, all of Round Hill, VA; as well as several nieces and nephews. Services: 11 am Wednesday at Tindall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Geddes. A calling hour will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY.
