Obituary of Elsie R. DeMasi

Elsie R. DeMasi February 1, 2010 Elsie Ruth (Payne) DeMasi, 90, of Syracuse, went home to the Lord on Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital with her loving family by her side. Elsie, a homemaker, was extremely talented and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and canning. She was a very caring and loving person to everyone who knew her and will be missed by all. Elsie was a communicant of St. Brigid and St. Joseph's Church. Elsie was the first of five generations and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially with all of her grandchildren. Elsie was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter, daughters, Margaret Garuccio and Pauline Scrimale. She is survived by daughters, Doreen (Gerald) Hastings, Nancy DeMichele, and Dolores (Weichert) Levine, twelve grandchildren including Peter and David Garuccio, Donna Capria, Tami Kapilla, Jeffrey Hastings of Orlando, FL, Jennifer Nelson, Gerald Femano, Jr. of Rochester, NY, Anthony Femano of Gilbert, AZ, Andrea Porter, Shelli Scrimale, NY, NY, Lindsay Weichert, NY, NY, and Daniel Weichert, twenty great- grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a sister, Betty Pierce. Services will be held 9:00 a.m., Saturday, February 6, at St. Brigid's and St. Joseph's Church, 318 Herkimer St., Syracuse. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 5, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Elsie may be sent to St. Brigid's food Pantry.
