Obituary of Margaret H. O'Brien

Margaret Hartigan O'Brien, 103, of Westvale passed away peacefully on May 27, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter Peg (Rick) Bailey. She was born in Solvay to Mary and Thomas Hartigan on July 31, 1912. She graduated from Vocational High School and Business School. She was married to Richard W. O'Brien who passed away in 1990. He was the owner of O'Brien's Market. Margaret was employed at Dey Brothers for 33 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed many years at the family cottage in the Adirondacks. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard O'Brien, her parents, her brother, Richard Hartigan, and her sister, Ann Hobert. Survivors: her daughters, Mary Elizabeth O'Brien and Beverly Anne Griffin. She had four grandchildren, Peg (Rick) Bailey, David (Margaret) Griffin Jr., Daniel (Mary) Griffin all of Camillus and Richard (Annette) Griffin of Spring Hill, FL. She had fifteen great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Tindall Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum, DeWitt. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219 or Special Olympics (Central Region), 6315 Fly Rd., E. Syracuse, NY 13057.
