Obituary of Bettina A. Sharp

Please share a memory of Bettina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Bettina A. Sharp, 91, formerly of Westvale passed away Friday, surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph's Hospital following a period of declining health. Mrs. Sharp had resided for several years at St. Camillus Health Care Facility. Bettie was born in Jamestown, and graduated from Jamestown High School. She was the secretary for the a cappella choir director at the school. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Bettie and her husband James lived in many different places in addition to Jamestown. She provided a gracious home for her family in Camillus, Niskayuna, Hamburg, and Baldwinsville. Her interests included cooking, gardening, reading, ceramics, participating in the PTA and Home Bureau. While at St. Camillus, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and the chorus. Bettie was an avid SU basketball and football fan. Her real passion, however, was being a mother and grandmother, and enjoying her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years James Sharp in January, 2007, and two granddaughters, Megan E. Collins and CMSgt. Patricia L. Moore. Survivors: three daughters, Susan (Charles) Palmer of Orange City, FL, Sherylanne (Michael) Burke of Westvale, Cynthia (Tina) and William Wirth of Camillus; grandchildren, Paul and Scott Bly, Robyn Bly Jordan, Brian, Jamie, and Sean Burke, Alyssa and Tiffany Wirth, 10 great grandchildren, and several cousins. Services: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Fairmount Community Church, 4801 W. Genesee St. Syracuse, NY 13219. There will also be a remembrance service at St. Camillus at a later date. The family would like to thank St. Camillus, St. Joseph's and the Palliative Care Unit for the compassionate care she received. We are all blessed to have had her in our lives. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Jowonio School, 3049 E. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13224.
