It is with sadness that I heard about Sister Thaddeus, for she will never know how she touched my life! I guess none of us ever really knows the impact we have upon another, but I'll try to honor my first grade teacher by expressing my reflections.
There were 62 students in our first grade class at St. Peter's School in Utica, NY, which was the first year the school opened, in 1959. My guess is that could have been Sister Thaddeus's first teaching assignment. How did she-and the other nuns-ever have coped?! A class that size today would be deemed impossible! I don't remember many details of that year, yet I was so in love with my teacher and loved school! She must have been pretty special, because I wanted to grow up to be a teacher just like her! And I did, except for the nun part!
I have never forgotten you, Sister Thaddeus. A bit of you was passed to me, which hopefully was passed to my students, and so on. We live through others. Rest in peace.

For all the years I wondered where Sister Thaddeus had gone, how sad I am to read of her passing. Seeing Ray Durr's comments, I know Sister Frances Ann was my Sister Thaddeus of St. Peter's first grade. How I loved her.
Her gentle spirit. Her love of books. Her spirit of love radiated.
Oh, my heart is so sad to have never connected with her...to let her know her enormous part she played in my positive self esteem, my love of reading and to live daily in her and Christ's love. R.I.P. Sister Thaddeus. Knowing now you are no longer on this earth, I will miss you more than ever. You have earned your resting in heaven.

I was so lucky to have Sister Thaddeus as my first grade teacher at St. Peters in North Utica and to end up with her as my English teacher and speech club advisor in my senior year at Oswego Catholic High. She had a tremendous impact on my life. I will forever be grateful for her commitment to education and faith.I regret that I can't be there personally but know that she is in my thoughts and prayers.
