Dean Williamson, 84, of Hopatcong, NJ and formerly of DeWitt, NY, passed away at home on December 5, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, son of Richard and Hazel Cyphers Williamson, he was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School class of 1947. He graduated from Mansfield University with a B.S. in Mathematics, and also studied Music at the University of Denver. He was a gunnery officer in the U.S. Navy, and retired from General Electric in 1989, after 33 years in the computer field on various managerial and technical assignments. He was a member of the G.E. Elfun Society. He was a past member of the American Federation of Musicians, and played professionally on piano and vibraphone. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 1276.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Helen Patten, a daughter, Beth Ann Meredith and husband Timothy, grandchildren, Dean Albert and Kate Elizabeth, Hopatcong, NJ; and a son, Dean Richard and wife Susan, grandchildren Melody Grace and Gabriel Dean, Leesburg, VA.
Services: A private memorial service is planned for a later date.
Donations in remembrance may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
