Obituary of Nelson A. Avery

Nelson Augustus Avery, 99, of Warners passed away Monday at home surrounded by his family. Born in Arietta, NY he retired from the Carrier Corp. after 34 years and 9 years at JR Clancy as a tool and dye maker. During his retirement Nelson enjoyed extensive traveling throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Nelson was a member of the Mayflower Society. He enjoyed geneology, furniture refinishing, and chair caning. Nelson was predeceased by his children, Michael Avery and Catherine (Smith) Jefferson. Survivors: his loving wife of 76 years, Cora (Raymond) Avery; six children, Patricia Stahlberg of Palm City, FL, Charles Avery of Folkson, GA, Stephen Avery of Clay, Paul Avery of Phoenix, Cecilia Avery of Warners, Joseph Avery of Warners; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren. Services: 10:00am Thursday at Our Lady Of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb St, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse.
