Phyllis Anne Gaurnier December 11, 2013 Phyllis Anne Gaurnier, 70, beloved wife, mother, and sister, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013. She was a graduate of North High School, CCBI and attended Syracuse University. Phyllis worked several years for Moore Business Forms of Syracuse, and then retired from Syracuse City School District after many years of service as office manager for the Assistant Superintendent. A woman of deep faith, she was a loyal communicant of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, running the lunch program at St. Ann’s School for many years. She was a true “giver”, in every sense of the word. An avid animal lover, she rescued and adopted many homeless animals. She loved music, house renovation, horse-back riding, spending time in the Adirondacks and tending her garden. She was predeceased by her father, Philip Benevento, mother, Anne Wlasuk Benevento, and half-brother, Victor Benevento. Survivors: her loving husband, Robert J. Gaurnier; daughter, Anita Gaurnier Hausser and her husband, Chris; granddaughter, Koral Elana; brother, John (Ann Marie) Benevento; sister, Susan Benevento (David) Wittich; stepmother, Lois Benevento; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann's Church, 4471 Onondaga Blvd., Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home Inc., 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made in Phyllis’ name to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., PO Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057.
