Obituary of Beth (Whelan) Tiby

Beth (Whelan) Tiby, 85, of Westvale passed away peacefully on Monday. Born to Maurice and Anne Whelan on Tipp Hill, Beth was raised in the Valley and graduated from St. Anthony's High School. In 1949 she married John Tiby and began raising their family. She was an extremely loving and caring person with an unmatched work ethic. She retired from US Air after 27 years of service. Beth and her husband John loved traveling, dining out, golf, bingo, and family get togethers. She was predeceased by her sons, Kevin in 1959, John Jr. in 2000, her bothers, Paul and Raymond Whelan, and her husband, John Sr. in 1999. Survivors: her children, Mary Tiby (Rob) George of Skaneateles; Tom (Sue) Tiby of Camillus, Nancy Tiby (Dean Hubbel) of Syracuse; daughter in law, Soon Heui Tiby; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Tiby, Angela (Marcus) Ball, Kevin (Sonia) George, Eric Hoosock, Lauren and Caitlin Tiby; brothers, Chuck (Lexi) Whelan, Kevin (Jean) Whelan, Brendan (Joanne) Whelan; sisters in law, Chantal Whelan, Catherine Pellikka, Mary Ellen Drabot and Roseanne (Tom) Shanahan and many nieces and nephews. Services: 10:15 a.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Camillus where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse.
