John Michael Blumer October 18, 2013 John Michael “Mike” Blumer of Munnsville, NY passed away Friday at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Born in Syracuse, John graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School. After graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon completion of his service, John joined the Syracuse Police Department, and later spent the majority of his career as a New York State Trooper and Investigator, finally retiring as an Investigator for the Oneida Indian Nation Police. John was an avid history buff and an avid sportsman. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Carmen Simms and his grandparents, Grace and Erwin Blumer. John is survived by his long-time girlfriend, Kathi Sochia; his daughters, Kristine Blumer, Karen Blumer, and Amy Blumer; his 5 granddaughters, Hailey, Isabella, Madeline, Ava, and Mackenzie, as well as many loving nephews, nieces and cousins. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Tindall Funeral Home. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St., Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude’s Children's Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House.
