Obituary of Bertha Mae Spinks

Bertha Mae Kennedy Spinks, 94, of Lakeland passed away Sunday at St. Camillus. Born in Syracuse, she was a 1936 graduate of Solvay High School. She retired from Killian Ball Bearing in 1980 after 25 years. She was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Lakeside Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Onondaga County and NYS Volunteer Firemen’s Associations. She was a member and past president of Western Hills Seniors. She was predeceased by her husband Wilford “Ed” Spinks, son, Eugene E. Hogan, and daughter, Marilyn J. Legawiec. Survivors: daughter in law, Ann Hogan of Lakeland; grandchildren, Eugene Hogan of Florida, Robert Legawiec of Oregon, Melissa Johnson of Baldwinsville, Rachelle Legewiec of Syracuse; great grandchild, Wyatt Gene Decker; several nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3474 Stiles Rd. Burial will follow in Belle Isle Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lakeside Fire Dept.
