Helen Forger Bookman, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, at Rosewood Heights Health Center, where she was a resident and staff favorite for 29 years. She was born on April 3, 1924 in Syracuse, NY. Helen was a graduate of Solvay High School, where she played on the varsity softball team. She worked at CGI in data input. She was a caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen was predeceased by her husband, David Bookman, in 1971, as well as her daughter Kathleen Bookman Jaquin and son Michael Bookman, sister Betty Cole, brother Harold “Sox” Forger, and her parents Elsie and Harold Forger. Survivors: her sons, Mark (Christine) of Massena and Hal (Mei) Bookman of Oswego; son-in-law, Robert (Judy) Jaquin of Liverpool. Helen was a loving “Grandma” to Kevin Bookman, Jennifer Jerome, Erin Harrigan, Brian Bookman, Katie Ashe, Jesse Bookman, Christopher Bookman, Sean Bookman, Michael Ann Bookman, Holly Bookman, Bradley Bookman and Brittany Bookman; her sister, Jeanette (Ben) Whitmore of Manlius; brother, Jim Forger of Syracuse; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, at Tindall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Belle Isle Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, One Children’s Circle, Syracuse, NY 13210.
