Obituary of Martha J. Day

Martha J. Day, 86, of Syracuse passed away Sunday at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Martha Austin December 31, 1923 in Dayton, OH. She was the youngest of seven children. Martha was retired from Crum & Forster Insurance. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward R. Day Sr. on April 15, 1988. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who placed her family above all else. Survivors: her daughter, Dorre L. Day of Camillus; sons, James L. Day and Edward R. Day Jr. of Syracuse; granddaughters, Danielle (Paul) Schermerhorn of Kirkville, Michelle L. Day of Syracuse, Greta L. Back of Los Angeles, CA, Leighanne (Casey) Clendenin of Camillus; 2 great grandchildren, Ashleigh and Matthew Schermerhorn. Services: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tindall Funeral Home 1921 W. Genesee St. Calling hours will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Martha will be buried in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery with her husband.
