Victor Chini, of Camillus, passed away on March 28. Born and raised in Syracuse, Victor was a graduate of Vocational High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was assigned to the aerial defense of South Korea's Pusan Harbor, where he served as the captain of a gun crew during the Korean War. Following the war, Victor attended LeMoyne College on the GI bill. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant in New York City for several years and then taught accounting at LeMoyne College while earning a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. In 1967, Victor received his LL.M. in taxation from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. With his wife, he had his own private law practice in Syracuse for over 25 years. Victor was an avid muskie fisherman, having caught over 250 muskies in the St. Lawrence River, most of which he released as part of the NYS DEC's tag-and-release program. During his retirement, and even into his mid-70s, he was passionate about softball, playing in leagues in both Central NY and Bradenton, FL.
