Obituary of Sondra Marie Pengov
Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and good friend, Sondra Marie Pengov, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side in Daytona, FL on September 2, 2024 at the age of 81. Sondra had recently re-located to Edgewater, FL with her husband of 35 years, Don.
Sondra or “Sonnie” as most close friends knew her, was born in Rochester, NY on December 30, 1942 and she was, by all accounts, a late Christmas gift to the world. Her bright smile, positive energy and infectious sense of humor impacted everyone who knew her. She will leave a trail of smiles.
Sondra attended Cherry Road school in Syracuse, NY and graduated from North High School in 1961. She was passionate about cheerleading and the performing arts and excelled at both. After graduation she went to work for General Electric. She married John Meager on April 4, 1964. Together they had two children, John and Natalie. Sondra later moved to Lake Mary, FL where she met Don Pengov. They married in Hawaii on February 4, 1989 and have been married since.
Sondra is predeceased by her father, Elwood Morgan and her mother, Dorothy Kwapich.
She is survived by her wonderful husband of 35 years, Don; her ex-husband, John (Nancy); her children, John (Amanda) and Natalie (Brian); 5 grandchildren, (Lexie, Kiki, Gabby, Tyler and Sydney); her three brothers, Dudley Morgan, Elwood Morgan, and J.P. Morgan and their 10 children and their families (Kate, Mary Claire, Lilly, Genevieve, Woody, K.C., Jennifer, Andre’, J.P. And Alex).
Sondra was a very special person who truly knew how to make people smile. She lived with energy, enthusiasm, and a never ending zest for life. She worked hard and loved harder and would always find the time for a quick laugh. Her children and grandchildren meant everything to her. She attended every event and every game to let you know just how much she cared. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7pm Thursday, September 26, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. Syracuse, NY. Interment will be 10:30am Friday, September 27, at St. Mary's (Our Lady of Hope) Mausoleum, DeWitt, NY.
