Obituary of Doris J. Friedli

Doris J. (Johnston) Friedli, 95, of Solvay, NY, passed away on Saturday, February 10 at Francis House. She was born in Amboy, NY on Christmas Day  in 1928. She graduated from Solvay High School in 1946 and married the love of her life, Gerry Friedli on November 22, 1947. She worked for Dr. Sweeny Dental Practice and NY Telephone Company until the birth of her girls. Doris was a member of Asbury/Solvay United Methodist Church and the financial secretary for over 40 years. She was a member of the UM Womens Group and the Pairs and Spares. She and Gerry were long time members of the Pine Grove Golf Club and enjoyed traveling to different courses to test their skill. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family especially in the Adirondack Mountains on 7th Lake.

She was pre-deceased by the love of her life, Gerry; her parents, William and Doris (Harris) Johnston; sisters, Retha Johnston Rabozzi and Jeanette Johnston.

Survivors: daughters, Jeanine Friedli Haines (Bill), Beth Friedli Akkoul (John); grandson, Joshua Akkoul and granddaughter, Chelsea Akkoul (Ben Thomson); nephew, William Rabozzi and niece, Elizabeth Rabozzi Francescotti.

Calling hours will be Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 1pm to 4pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. Syracuse. Burial will be private at a later date at Belle Isle Cemetery.
