Obituary of Ronald Bruce Paxson

The world lost a true Gentle Giant who was loved and adored by all. Ronald Bruce Paxson passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023. Ron was born in Boston MA, but spent most of his life residing in Westvale on Parsons Drive. He was an integral part of the community. More often than not, he was seen walking the neighborhood with his boombox or at Cherry Road School. Ron was known as Coach Ron through many years coaching Pop Warner football, basketball, and Little League where every year he was awarded coach of the year. He loved getting on his CB radio as the “Solvay Bearcat” chatting with whoever was there. Ron was a member of Robinson (Memorial) Elmwood Church, where he shared good news and enjoyed coffee hour. The community recognized his enormous impact and on November 3, 2017, it was declared “Ronnie Paxson Day”. For the last 6 years of his life, he made The Grand, in Chittenango, his home where they treated him like family.

Ronald, Ronnie, Ron, Uncle Ron, was a treasure to all who knew him. The world was a better place because of Ron. His kind hearted soul left an imprint on so many people.

Ron is predeceased by his father and mother, Marvin and Marion Paxson; brother, Marvin Paxson; sister, Marilyn Fredericks.

He is survived by his brother, Robert Paxson; niece, Melanie Anne Hawn (Roger); nephews, Robert, Douglas (Tanya), and Gregory Paxson; and several great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 10am to 12pm Saturday, July 8, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. Syracuse. A Funeral Service will begin at 12pm. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
