Obituary of Theodosia Sobotka

Theodosia “Teddy” Synakowski Sobotka, 99, of Camillus, NY, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2022 at Elderwood Nursing Home. Teddy was born May 30, 1923 in Syracuse, NY and grew up in Riverhead, Long Island. She was a graduate of Riverhead High School. Teddy loved singing from a young age and throughout her life. She won many awards for her singing in high school and was a soloist at her graduation. She was a member of various choirs, including the I J Paderowski choir at Sacred Heart Church. Teddy enjoyed bowling. Teddy was employed for many years with the Federal Government in the Internal Revenue Service and Office of Personnel Management, retiring in 1984. Teddy was proud of her Polish heritage and loved Polish food, especially pierogi. She was most proud of her family and dearly loved her grandchildren. Teddy was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church for many years and more recently loved attending weekly mass at Holy Family with her daughter, son-in-law and his mother Anne Sheridan.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Chester A. Sobotka; her parents, Kalixt and Mary Synakowski; her sisters, Irene and Theresa; her brothers, Kalixt and Anthony; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Paul Sheridan, grandchildren, Alexander McGlynn, Jonathan (Emma) McGlynn, Andrew (Bridget) McGlynn and Mary Kathryn (Michael) Lannon; step grandchildren, Colleen Sheridan (James Calandra), Kyle (Jessica) Sheridan, and Bridget Sheridan (Colin Chilbert); Great Grandchildren, Everett, Nora, Connor, Declan, Ellie and two on the way; sister-in-law Betty Synakowski and many nieces and nephews. 

Calling hours will be 5 to 7pm Wednesday, November 2, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 West Genesee St., Syracuse, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:30 pm Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Holy Family Church. Burial will be follow at the Onondaga Veterans Cemetery on Howlett Hill Road.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
