Obituary of Joan M. Close

Joan M. (Guth) Close, 85, of Syracuse passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday at The Nottingham. Born in Syracuse, she was a 1954 graduate of Solvay High School. Joan worked many years as a secretary for America Fore, Mass Mutual, and Recovery Counseling Services. She was loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. Joan was avid reader, loved celebrating the holidays with her family and had a great sense of humor.

She was predeceased by her husband, C. Edwin Close in 2018.

Survivors: daughters, Karen Bonaccio of DeWitt and Julie Nilsen (David Sequino) of Leesburg, VA; grandchildren, Matthew and Thomas Bonaccio, Alaina Nilsen; brother, Thomas Guth of Las Vegas, NV and a niece and nephew.

Services: Private services will be held for family. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
