Obituary of Josephine Ann DeMong
Josephine “Jo” (Guinto) DeMong, 83, peacefully began her new journey on September 13, 2021 in Winston-Salem, NC. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chuck, her parents James and Alice Guinto, and her brother James Guinto, Jr. She is survived by her daughters Lynn (Bobby) Kanode of Pfafftown, NC, and Laura Goodson of Syracuse, NY, and her grandchildren Dann (Morgan) Ryan, Alex and Bailey Kanode, and Kassidy and Cameron Goodson. She is also survived by her sisters MaryLou Goodson and Virginia Galpin, along with multiple nieces and nephews. And too many friends to mention.
Jo lived life to the fullest, retiring after 30 years with General Electric/Lockheed Martin, and enjoyed travelling with Chuck to Hawaii, Las Vegas, San Diego, Outer Banks, North Carolina, Florida, and cruises, just to mention a few. She was able to spend time with all 5 of her grandchildren, who were her greatest treasure. She loved music, especially Frank Sinatra - who played in her room constantly in her final days. She also loved dancing, boy did she love dancing! She enjoyed casinos and slot machines, and an occasional martini (which resulted in a few broken martini glasses over the years). She always had a smile and a complement for anyone that she met. She never met a stranger, and she loved to talk (she struggled to be quiet for any length of time - like more than 2 minutes!). Most of all – she loved her family and telling others how proud she was of each of them. Our earth’s loss is heaven's gain.
