Obituary of James Good
James (Jim/Goody) William Good, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Fairmount surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Jim was born on February 24, 1935 to and Francis and Frances (Fitzpatrick) Good of Fayetteville, NY. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. At 19 he enlisted and served in the US Navy (1954-1962) as a Radiomen, which earned him the nickname “Sparks,” and later served on the USS Dashiell from 1/27/57 to 6/6/57. Jim worked for WECO Graphic Arts Company and later retired as the Supervisor of the Onondaga County Printing Shop in 1997 after 40 years. In retirement, Jim mowed lawns for Pop Warner. Jim’s passion was golf, so in retirement, he “tried” almost every day to improve his golf game and was a Member of Camillus Country Club. Goody was known on the course to have one of the most beautiful golf swings, accuracy was his issue. One golf trip to Myrtle Beach he managed to place the ball in the water on every hole even when the water was behind him. Many memories and friendships were made on the golf course, Pensabene’s Park West, and Asil’s where each one brought him a smile that lit up his whole face.
Jim is survived by his two sons, William (Kristin) Good and Steven Good; four grandchildren, Mackenzie, William Jr, Daniel, and Steven Jr. (Valerie), and great granddaughter Gwyneth. Jim also leaves behind many lifelong friends along with his “beloved” cat Bogey.
Calling hours will be 4-7pm Monday, September 13, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. Syracuse. All that knew and loved him are invited to attend. Burial will be 11am Wednesday, September 22, at Onondaga County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery (Howlett Hill Rd).
