Mr. Todisco (Mr. T) was my favorite teacher of all my classes at LaFayette HS. He was so funny and smart. He knew how to get you to look at life a different way and to explore and discover new things. I remember the first week (freshman year) of Art he said my first name wrong. I tried to tell him how to say it, but he insisted he was going to say it the way he wanted. He wasn't just an Art teacher, he was a teacher of real life, to think outside the box, believe in yourself. I have thought of him often over the past 30 or so years and always, always with fond memories. We love and miss you Mr. T.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Mr. Todisco was a great teacher. I modeled my own teaching style after the lessons I learned from him in the Humanties class at Westhill in the 60's.

Mr. Todisco, thank you so much for being my first Art Teacher at Westhill. I am so thankful for you for opening my eyes to the world of art, in addition to making sure that we all concentrated and took our art seriously. I still have my first self portrait that I drew in your class, in addition to the chairs stacked on the table drawing that I still love! That was over 40 years ago! What a testament to you! Also, and most importantly of all, I want to thank you for opening my eyes to all of the arts, especially music history and the instruments that we never would have known about otherwise. I will never forget your lesson about how classical music mimics nature and how we listened to classical music and I looked out of the window and saw the birds flying and they actually flew to the music! What a beautiful lesson that was and still is in my world today. Rest in peace, knowing that you are a wonderful teacher and mentor!

Mr Todisco was my art teacher at LaFayette Central School in the mid-70s. He was also the editor of the yearbook staff and I was a photog. We were allowed to build a darkroom and taught to develop our own negatives and photos. As a teacher, he was very well-liked. I sincerely enjoyed his class and appreciated his teaching style. My thoughts are with his family. I send my sincerest condolences.

Oh,the memories.Nick helped shape so many of us. He once kicked me in the ass in front of a bunch of classmates when he caught me skipping art class and that's why I went to medical school instead of pursuing art, but alas my talents were inferior but he still believed in me.Spending time with him and the gang in Henderson Harbor were some of the best of my life.He will be missed.

A great man that will truly be missed. I had the luxury of being his student in HS and I'd have to say he was like no other teacher I had. He had a way to push you to strive and be better, and you felt like he truly cared about your wellbeing and your success in life. My only hope is that my children have a teacher like Mr. T in their life.

I was so sad to see the news of Nick passing. He was one of the most influential people in my life. His encouragement, support and enthusiasm was pivotal in my interest and pursuit of filmmaking as a career. I feel blessed witht the life that has come as a result. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity for my wife and children to have met him two years ago - they were touched by him immediately. Nick, you were a great, great man. Thank you so much for all you said, did and were and how generously you gave. You have inspired us all so much and certainly have inspired me to be a better person and to see the impact we can have on the lives of others.

To Mr. Todisco's family - I am very sorry for your loss. Although it has been 41 years since I sat in his classroom -his teachings remain. He left a profound impact on many. He convinced me that I didn't have to be a great painter to be artistic, just consider a different viewpoint and see the world differently. His assignments were never easy; but their memories were lasting.

What an amazing man, teacher and artist. Sincere condolences to his family. He was the best art teacher I ever had and I owe my success as an artist to him. He had the best look on life and his influence will stay with me forever. I would love to see a retrospective show of his work. He really was such a great artist and this is such a sad loss!

Nick Todisco made me dig deeper into the things he made me do in drawing, painting, photography, and the humanities. The vigor for life and learning that I continue to enjoy and pass on to my children was inspired by Nick and my father with whom he taught. The Lord was very gracious to me when Nick Todisco came into my life in 1973.

Mr Todisco always made you believe in yourself and your abilities. He taught me that hard work and dedication to your craft will pay off. No room for slackers! Once you entered his classroom; you were his and he demanded your full attention. Thank you Nick, way back in the 80"s you planted a seed of inspiration in me. I took that challenge and ran with it. Because of your guidance I am a successful industrial designer.

"Shoot through, go around, find an outside edge, find, speed up, slow down, don't draw... you're drawing! Find, one line at a time, think it back, find. Never, never, never name the object! Be a switch thrower!" Nick inspired me to be a teacher and I think of him each day as I teach art to my elementary students and of course I hear him in my head when I draw. The best.

Nick,
Was a great colleague and awesome educator. The impact he had on students, including both my son and daughter, was tremendous. Students who took a class with him left with skills and knowledge that they could apply to eavery day life circumstances. Nick taught them how priniciples associated with Art (i.e. discipline, persistence), also applied to life.
As a colleague, he taught me what true friends represent and how to become a better teacher and administrator. I will always hold a place in my heart for him; He will truly be missed by the Williams family.
Thank you Nick.

Oh, his energy and passion. I sat next to Kevin Dwyer in his class at Westhill (grad 1971). I remember years after graduating going with Bob Wonders to visit with Mr. Todisco at his home, and how he lent me his album of Marlene Dietrich. I'm so glad I returned it to him! His was one of the minds that glowed at Westhill when I was there, and although I didn't know him well, I'm lucky to have known him even slightly.

Mr. Todisco was my art teacher at Westhill in 1971, the school from which I ultimately graduated - but I’d gone to three high schools in four years and had grown weary of always being the new kid at school. Rather than being sympathetic, Mr. Todisco honored me by being sarcastic, dry witted and even ascerbic at my expense. By so doing, he exposed a resiliancy I knew I had but didn’t much want.I'm more sorry than I can say at the news of his passing. He was the best.

Sad to see this. Nick Todisco was one of a very (very)small handful of teachers I have had in my educational experience who really had a lasting impact on me. He turned me onto photography at a time when I was not much interested in anything (other than, perhaps girls and music). I have thought about him over the years but never thanked him for his encouragement and support.
