Obituary of Jeanne Elizabeth Potanas

Jeanne Elizabeth Potanas, 60, passed away Wednesday at Crouse Hospital. She was born October 17, 1960 and resided in Syracuse. Jeanne devoted her entire career to serving the community. She started as a Syracuse Police Dispatcher eventually transitioning to dispatching for Onondaga County 911. Upon retirement in 2005 she moved to the Cayman Islands and dispatched for the Island of Grand Cayman. In 2006, Jeanne returned to the mainland and joined forces with WAVES Ambulance, where she once volunteered, and became a career Medic eventually transitioning to her current position as the Director of Administration

Jeanne is predeceased by both of her parents, MaryHelen and Peter Potanas.

Survivors: Jeanne leaves behind one daughter, Jennifer Potanas (Dwayne Dawson) of North Carolina; two granddaughters, Jazyminique White of New York and Jayon Dawson of North Carolina and one grandson expected July 14 2021; three brothers, Michael J Potanas of New York, P Mark Potanas of New Hampshire and John M Potanas of New York; two sisters, Mary Monica Riley of New York and Anne (Gary) Vinette of Virginia as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers. 

Services: Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm Saturday April 10, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. Syracuse.

Current NYS COVID guidelines requiring masks, social distancing and occupancy limits will be observed.
