Ryan was such a light in my life and so many others. On May 7th, a group of us here in Denver are having a memorial, Denver is here he spent his last days and he made so many friends. My deepest condolences to the entire family. Ryan was in my 5th-grade class and I remember his wit, fun-loving attitude, and his love for music and dance. He was the star of our play that year! He will be missed. May he rest in peace. Thinking of you all at this difficult time.

Julie and family, I am so sorry about your tremendous loss. Although I was lucky enough to have Ryan in class, my favorite memory occurred during a conference day. Ryan's performing arts class was asked to perform for the staff. There was a special needs boy who benefitted from some help with the dance steps. Ryan stayed with him the whole time — calming him, guiding him, talking him through the routine. He was supportive yet subtle, not taking any of the spotlight away from the young man. I was so moved by what I saw that I went looking for Ryan afterwards. As I attempted to tell him how proud I was of him, my voice cracked and I couldn't finish. I hope he knew.
