Obituary of Nancy K. Barreca

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Kelly Barreca, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister died in her sleep at St. Joseph’s Hospital on February 24, 2021. Born January 23, 1930, Nancy was the youngest of John and Jessica Kelly’s eight children. She grew up in Marcellus and graduated from Marcellus High School. Before becoming a  full-time homemaker, Nancy worked for Excelsior Insurance. She enjoyed golf, gardening, and was an excellent seamstress. Her kind, generous nature, along with her warm smile made her a fast friend to everyone she met.

She was predeceased  by her husband, Joseph, who passed 25 years ago to the day of Nancy’s passing. Her family sees this as no coincidence and feels they are once again happily together.

She is survived by her children, Susan Barreca, Joseph (Jeanne) Barreca, and Mary (Matthew) Babbles; her grandchildren, Daniel Barreca, Kelly (Tom) Largent, and Andrew Barreca; her sister Kathryn Kelly; her in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins of the extended Kelly and Barreca families; as wells many friends and beloved neighbors.

A private graveside service will be at a later date.

Donations in Nancy’s memory can be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY 13208 or the charity of your choice.

Nancy would like to leave those she loved with this thought - “So when tomorrow  starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m  right there in your heart.”
