Obituary of Rosemary J. Baratta

Rosemary J. Baratta, age 88, of Solvay passed away peacefully on September 25, 2020. Rosemary was a lifelong resident of Solvay attending Solvay public schools and graduated from Syracuse University. She began her initial college education studying Home Economics, thinking she would love to work in commercial test kitchens. She later switched to education and spent her entire professional career teaching for over 35 years within the Solvay School system.

Rosemary never abandoned her love for cooking and baking. She was known for her delicious homemade Italian dishes, as well as her intricate and beautiful Christmas cookies. Many friends and family savored her “care packages” sent throughout her life, especially those to nieces and nephews away at school.

Rosemary was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Syracuse. She is predeceased by her parents, Rose and Michael A. Baratta, and her brother, Michael.

Survivors: her brother, Carmine of Solvay and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Services: 10 am Friday October, 2 at Holy Family Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Private interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
