Obituary of Lois B. Rein

Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mrs. Lois B. Rein passed away peacefully, relieved from her extended illness, on April 29, 2019, in Syracuse. She returned to her Lord at the age of 97 years.

Lois was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, David A. Rein; her parents, Ann P. and Thomas D. Brown; and a sister, Wilma Baker.

Lois and David are survived by their four children: In the Syracuse area, Gary (Petie), Nancy, and Robert (Kathy); and James (Kim) in Colorado. Her seven grandchildren are Tristan, Brittany, Hayley, Laura, Harrison, Elizabeth, and Claire. The extended Rein and Brown families also include 16 nieces and nephews.

Lois was born in Jordan, N.Y. and lived her childhood there, graduating from Jordan High School. When the Brown family moved to Syracuse they became active in, and long-time members of, Furman Street Methodist Church. That’s where Lois met David, who became her husband in 1949. They enjoyed many close friendships and family activities through Furman Church. Lois was more recently a congregant of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Camillus.

As a young woman Lois worked at Lincoln Bank in Syracuse. She was later employed for many years in an office position at Westhill High School.

The family will hold a private memorial service at the gravesite in Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan.

Lois was fond of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, and was also supportive of the Syracuse Rescue Mission. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a memorial gift to one of those organizations.
