Edward C. Tobin Sr., 86, of Westvale, passed away Saturday at home. He was born at home on Caroline Ave., Solvay, in 1926, and moved to Westvale after his marriage to Helen Mortas. Edward was a US Army veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater, including the Normandy Beach invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Edward was the president of Edward C. Tobin Trucking, Inc. He loved vacationing with his wife and family at Old Forge and Otisco Lake. He was a hard worker, raced stock cars, was a boxer in the service and was an avid pool player. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Helen M. Tobin, and his grandson, Edward C. Tobin III. Survived by his four sons, Edward (Stephanie) Tobin, Jr, David (Catherine) Tobin, John "Jack" (Pamela) Tobin Sr., all of Camillus, and James Tobin of Syracuse; grandchildren, Christina Tobin (Thomas Schwaab), Melissa Tobin, Jennifer Tobin, John Tobin Jr., Victoria Tobin; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 9:30 am Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt with military honors. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219 or Hospice Of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088
