Obituary of Raymond Julius Axelson Jr.

Raymond Julius Axelson Jr., 91, of Syracuse, NY passed away Wednesday surrounded by his family. He was born on March 17, 1927 in Providence, RI. He is the son of Raymond Julius Sr. and Gertrude Sampson and has a brother George. He was co-owner with his wife of Ray Axelson Commercial Photography. He is a 1950 graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Axelson was a former VP and chief estimator for the Santaro Companies and is a Veteran of the US Coast Guard from 1945-46. He is a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Episcopal Church, served on the Vestry, and as former treasurer of Calvary Episcopal Church. He is a former Scout Leader with Troop 42 and enjoyed canoeing and kayaking. He married his wife Ethel Mae Yeomans on December 24, 1949 at Eastwood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Ethel; son James Axelson (Janie); daughters: Lynn Barry (Tom); Diane Miller (Ken); 10 grandchildren (10 spouses); 30 great-grandchildren (2 spouses) 1 great-great grandchild and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 9:30 am Saturday August 4, at St. Mark the Envangelist Episcopal Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
