Obituary of David L. Petro

David L. Petro, 60, of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday after a brief illness. Born in Lackwanna, the son of Francis and Jean Petro. David was a dedicated employee with Onondaga County at the Rosemond Gifford Zoo. His greatest love was to help bring change and improvement to the zoo. David enjoyed the Yankees, softball, bowling, and golf. He enjoyed his three beagles immensely, Abby, Zoe, and Sammie. He was predeceased by his father, Francis and nephew, Todd Petro.

Survivors: his wife of 30 years, Janinne A. (Lell) Petro; daughters, Amber Donoghue of Charlotte, NC and Lindsey (Jacob) Gordon of Kokomo, IN; mother, Jean Petro of Syracuse; sister, Debbie (Jerry) Parsons of Lysander, brother, Dan Petro, Broken Arrow, OK, sister, Beth Petro of Memphis, NY, brother, Bob Petro of Syracuse; his treasured granddaughter, Kenley Gordon; several beloved nieces and nephews.

Services: Calling hours 4 to 6:30 PM Friday at Tindall Funeral Home 1921 W. Genesee Street, with a prayer service to begin at 6:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Todd F. Petro Memorial Fund, Golisano Children's Hospital, One Children's Circle, Syracuse, NY 13210 or the Rosemond Gifford Zoo, 1 Conservation Pl, Syracuse, NY 13204.
