Marie Jean Knapp Trenga, 79, passed into eternity on May 9, 2012 after courageously living with great heart and tenacity. Marie was born in Fly Creek, New York and attended Cooperstown High School. Marie moved to Syracuse to attend Syracuse University, where she earned a social work degree. She was a life-member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and was a former employee of the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District. She enjoyed living in Manlius, NY for many years. Marie was predeceased by her parents Mary Stucin Knapp and Frank Knapp, and her brothers Frank Knapp and Fred Knapp. Survivors: her four children; Robert J. Trenga (Anne Tindall) of Manlius, NY, Marie Trenga (Brian Ribeiro) of Midland, GA, Theresa Brenon (Steve) Balston Lake, NY and Thomas of Mesa, AZ., grandchildren Caitlin, Paul and Adam Ribeiro, Amelia Trenga, Alexandria Brenon, and Jake and Natalie Trenga, sisters-in-law Arlene Knapp and Jeanne Knapp, and by treasured Aunts Mary Stucin and Sophie Smith, many nieces and nephews, and her Fly Creek cousins Frances Clark, Emily Zartman, Virginia Breish, Mary Ann Hartmann, Joan Saboda and John Stucin Jr. A special thanks to the staff at the Nottingham Residential Health Care Facility in Jamesville, NY where Marie resided for the past 7 years, receiving compassionate care from all. Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ann's Church in Manlius, NY. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Fayetteville-Manlius Food Pantry PO Box 626 Manlius, NY 13104.
